ABOUT US

Picture
The British Cockapoo Society was set up in August 2013 to raise awareness of Cockapoos, encourage responsible ownership, and inform those interested in these lovely dogs about all aspects of Cockapoo care.
We also support the national UK charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, who breed and train dogs to become fully fledged Assistance Dogs for adults and children in the deaf community

We aim to provide a friendly and welcoming environment where no question is too small and no problem too big to be discussed.

We will encourage owners to train their dogs in a positive and gentle manner, using positive reinforcement techniques, and do not in any way support the outdated 'Alpha dog, Leader of the pack' technique still advocated by some.

Cockapoos are becoming an increasingly popular crossbreed - hardly surprising, they are fantastic dogs and make great family pets.

For members we offer an active Facebook Chat page, which is a great way to get to know other members and discuss all aspects of Cockapoo owning life!  We have members with a wealth of experience they are willing to share with new Cockapoo owners looking for help or advice.  Members also have the opportunity to join in on organised walks and events.
An important part of our club activities also involves fundraising for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People by holding fun events and competitions.  We are a completely non profit making organisation and so every penny raised goes to a wonderful charity.

                                                                                                   CLUB AIMS

** Provide information about how to find a reputable breeder.

** Give advice on finding breeders who are working to good standards.

** Provide information and encourage prospective owners to purchase puppies bred from DNA health tested parents.

** To maintain our impartiality we are not linked to and do not support any particular breeder and will not publicly endorse Cockapoo breeders.

** We will encourage responsible dog ownership by advocating training using non aversive techniques and by supporting rewards based training methods.  We do not support any training methods that follow the 'alpha' or the dominance or 'pack leader' model and will provide up to date information of positive, reward based training technique.

** We will welcome feedback from members via the Contact Form on the button at the top of the page

** We will maintain a friendly and informative Facebook page for members and keep the website and Facebook page up to date with events for members.  Our Facebook chat page can be found via the button above.  It is a closed group page, so you have to ask to join, but that is usually dealt with quickly.

** We promote the club via our open to public Facebook page and our website.

** We run a service for members of the public who have lost or found a Cockapoo or Doodle and advertise the details on a dedicated Facebook page.

** We are a totally non profit making club, and will hold competitions or events to fundraise for our chosen charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People.  We recognise the need for all Assistance Dogs to be trained and registered and support the work going on by ADUK to achieve this.
