WHERE COCKAPOOS COME FIRST!

HEALTH CHECK LIST

There is a growing interest in people who would like to treat their dogs holistically or who are interested in learning about their options.  Raw feeding is more and more popular and there are now several companies that produce good quality. ready made meals which are available either online or from pet stores.

Natural methods of treating minor ailments or replacing chemical flea and worming are also gaining favour with some and details of these can be found on the pages in this section.
The checklist below is a useful tool for people who may be concerned about their dogs health and wondering why any problem has started.

THE INFORMATION IN THESE PAGES IS NOT INTENDED TO REPLACE VETERINARY ADVICE AND YOU SHOULD ALWAYS CONSULT YOUR VET IF AT ALL CONCERNED ABOUT YOUR DOGS HEALTH.

BASIC HOLISTIC CHECK LIST:

  • Any change in diet or extra helpings on a walk? …….(mine have tried fish hooks, dead fish, alive fish, dead forest prey, bottle tops, metal pencil sharpeners, the list is endless!)
  • Any recent illness or emotional upset in the family?
  • Vaccines - Any reaction or illness within three months of vaccine) Or over vaccination.(yearly)?
  • Worming and flea treatments given?
  • New carpet, couch, paint etc?
  • Moved house?
  • Sudden shock or fright?.
  • Death/grieving of anyone in the family or from another pet?.
  • Is the dog drinking the same, more or less?

Get accustomed to what the pet’s gums usually look like, notice coat changes, teeth, eyes etc

As with any health issue always look first to the gut, 70 to 90% of the immune system is born there so it is always a good indicator of health.

Are you feeding a fresh diet, be it raw or cooked?
If not could you start adding fresh foods to the diet? According to very recent scientific research feeding a good quality fresh food diet helps keep cancer at bay by more than 70% over feeding a  processed food, just the same as us humanfolk!  Happy researching.

Is there a need for allergy testing?
Alternatively, does it just need a little tweak maybe or allergy testing perhaps.

Has the diet changed of late or has there been an emotional upset for you or the animal?
Emotional stress can cause all manner of things.
Environmental issues can also pose a threat.   New carpets, rugs, curtains, couches come sprayed with chemicals that can effect animals more than human’s.

Try to air things out and buy as natural as you possibly can.
Do you need air freshener plug in and sprays or really strong chemical cleaners?  All these things make a difference over time.

So always with any health issues try to work out any changes first.
