KIDNEY TESTS

FAMIAL NEPHROPATHY
Affects approximately 11% of English Cocker Spaniels.
An inherited disease which damages the internal structure of the kidney. The kidneys start to fail causing the dog to drink excessively produce more urine, lose weight and ultimately give the dog diarrhoea, vomiting and general malaise.
Eventually it leads to renal failure and the death of the dog.
Symptoms usually start to show when the dog is between 6 months and 2 years of age.
DNA testing can be done by Laboklin (UK) or Optigen (USA)
