WHERE COCKAPOOS COME FIRST

COCKAPOO COAT of MANY COLOURS

Picture
Cockapoo's can come in a variety of colours, some of which are shown here.

When thinking of colours, remember that some dogs can start off a deep chocolate, jet black or definite red colour as puppies, but this can change over time, due to the 'fading gene' inherited from the Poodle line.

BLACK

Some solid black Cockapoos can fade in colour due to the inherited 'Fading gene' from the Poodle parent.  The degree of fade can vary, and doesn't always happen, but can result in the black fading to  grey or silver.

CHOCOLATE

Chocolate Chockapoos can vary in shade as puppies.  The chocolate coat can be a deep dark chocolate ranging through to a lighter brown.
Like the black Cockapoo, Chocolate puppies can also inherit the fading gene, resulting in a fade down to cafe au lait or a silvery beige tone.

APRICOT & RED

The Apricot colour spectrum can range from a deep russet red, to a pale cream colour.  The fading gene in these colours can result in a lightening of colour, which results in a pup fading from a dark colour to a much lighter coat colour as it gets older.

WHITE & BLONDE
The lightest coat colours for Cockapoos are the white and blonde colours.  Here you can see, blonde with long fur, and others showing darker colouration on the ears and muzzle, with the last one a totally white coat.

COAT PATTERNS

As well as the solid coat colours mentioned above, Cockapoos can also have a variety of coat patterns, some illustrated below

TUXEDO
A Tuxedo coat is a solid colour with a well defined white patch on the chest.  It can be seen in black Cockapoos, as well as the red variety

SABLE
Sable Cockapoos have a base colour and then the tips of their fur are coloured in different colours such as black, cream, red etc.  They are often born with a dark, well defines colouration, but fade as they grow older.

The colours above are the basics, but there is a wide variation of coat colours.  Here are a few more examples of coat types but dont forget that a puppy's colour cannnot be guaranteed into adulthood because of the fading gene. -
